Grant Junior Hill
THOMASVILLE - Mr. Grant Junior Hill, 93, a resident of Thomasville, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Pine Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Rowan County on March 9, 1921, to the late Lawson Grant Hill and Alice Kepley Hill. He has been a resident of Davidson County since 1964. He was married Feb. 21, 1942, to Zela Ribelin Hill, who survives of the home.
Grant was a member of East Corinth Baptist Church in Gold Hill and attended Pleasant View Baptist Church in Archdale.
He was a former dairy farmer, worked in construction and was owner and operator of Grant J. Hill Trucking which sold sand and gravel to area contractors. He served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well a son, Kenneth Aaron Hill.
In addition to his wife Zela Hill surviving are sons Larry R. Hill Sr. and wife Diane of Lexington and Gary W. Hill and wife Joan of Thomasville; a brother, Arlie Hill of Gold Hill; sister Myrtle Morgan of Gold Hill; grandchildren Larry Ray Hill Jr., David Hill and wife Lisa, Tonya Walton and husband Randy, Bill Austin and wife Sherri, Wendy Hill and Gary Hill Jr. and wife Tiffany; great-grandchildren Easton Hill, Dustin Hill and wife Amanda, Aaron Hill, Shelby Hill, Katelyn Hill, Jessica Hill, Makayla Hill, Alyssa Hill, Bella Hill, Zachery Hill, David Hill, Brett Woodard and wife Christine, Brittany Woodard, Ella Walton, Hannah Austin, Sarah Austin, Garrett Hill, Autumn Hill and Emma Hill, great-great-grandchildren Braxton Hill, Addison Hill, Emmerson Hill and William Woodard.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held Thursday Jan. 29, at 11 a.m. in J.C. Green & Sons Chapel with Rev. Joel Smith and Gary Hill Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at East Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Gold Hill. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
