Harry W. Miller

ROCKWELL - Mr. Harry W. Miller, 90, of Rockwell, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 7, 2012, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem.

Mr. Miller was born June 26, 1922, in Rowan County, son of the late Jacob M. Miller and Gertrude Misenheimer Miller. Educated at Rockwell School, he was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Miller retired from Cannon Mills Plant Number One in 1987 after 46 years of service. He worked in the Packing Room.

He was a life-member of St. James Lutheran Church, treasurer of the Sunday School for a number of years, past council member and also an usher.

Mr. Miller was a member of Woodman of the World. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mrs. Mary Miller, who he married Aug. 1, 1942; son Gene Miller and wife Martha of Salisbury; daughter Elaine Bradley and husband Kenny of Rockwell; grandchildren Sherri Lamb, Ryan Bradley, Garrett E. Miller and wife Heather, Katherine Coley and husband Cliff; great-grandchildren Mark Lamb, Jenna Lamb and William Brooks Coley.

Service: The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10 at The Powles Funeral Home Chapel in Rockwell conducted by Rev. Craig Sigmon, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 10 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rowan Hospice and Palliative; or Saint James Lutheran Church, Rockwell, NC.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers from Hospice, Home Instead, and the VA Medical Center.
