GOLD HILL - Troy Lynn Treece, 64, of Gold Hill, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.

He was born in Rowan County on Aug. 31, 1945, and was the son of Glenna Wagoner Treece and Leonard R. Treece, who preceded him in death.

He graduated from East Rowan High School in 1963, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Catawba College with a BS degree in Business Administration.

Troy was the past owner of Quality Cleaners in Granite Quarry, as well as being a licensed North Carolina building contractor.

Troy was a self-taught guitar player, songwriter and singer. He loved country and gospel music and played with his two sons, brother and several local bands in the area. He wrote and recorded a gospel CD, "He's Still Knocking," that touched the lives of many people.
