Betty Hatley Almond Lefler

Betty Hatley Almond Lefler, age 78, of 16453 Hwy. 73 Albemarle, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at her home.

Visitation was Monday from 6 to 8 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Salem United Methodist Church, with a 30-minute state. Rev. Mike McClellan and Rev. Mark Denton will officiate. Interment will be at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Albemarle.

Mrs. Lefler was a self employed beautician and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.

Born November 11, 1928 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Gurley Alton and Pauline Smith Hatley.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Pearson Ellis Almond, and brothers, Jennings Hatley, Gurley Ward Hatley and James “Jimmy” Hatley.

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Lefler of the home; two sons, Terry Almond of Richfield and Mark E. Almond of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Marilyn Almond Tucker and Paula A. Almond, both of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Kevin D. Almond, Jeremy Tucker, Tara Barajas, Sara and Candace Almond; and two great-grandchildren, Zachery Almond and Seth Almond.

Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund, 20987 Hwy. 73, Albemarle, NC 28001, or Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
