Doris Herrin

Doris Lillian Maness Herrin, 69, of 1292 N. Oak Ridge Road, Oakboro, passed away Feb. 16, 2010, at Lutheran Home of Albemarle.

Born in Stanly County on April 5, 1940, she is survived by her parents, William Robert Maness and Eunice Ferol Mabry Maness of Albemarle.

She is also survived by her husband, Eugene James Herrin of the home. She was the beloved Mother of Debra Honeycutt and husband Kim of Albemarle, Timothy Herrin and wife Angelia of Monroe and Renee Rogers and husband Warren of Oakboro. Other survivors include sisters, Shirley Maness Smith and husband Larry of Albemarle and Donna Maness Burris and husband Rick of Norwood; grandchildren, Michelle Cole, Mark Honeycutt, Andrew Herrin, Laura Herrin, Meredith Honeycutt, Brad Rogers, Lydia Herrin, Josh Rogers, Hannah Herrin, Jessie Rogers and Caleb Herrin; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by infant daughter, Angela Dawn Herrin.

She was a homemaker and member of Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She loved cooking, canning, needlework and crafts. She will be remembered by many for the personal gifts that she made and gave to others. She also loved to take food to people in times of need. She left a legacy of love in her children and grandchildren. Her family and church were her life. She was a very caring and loving woman.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Hartsell Funeral Home‑Albemarle. At other times, the family will meet at the home. Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Meadow Creek Primitive Baptist Church with a 30-minute state. Elder Eddie Fowler and Elder Newell Helms will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
