Helen Galloway Brady

GOLD HILL - Mrs. Helen Galloway Brady, 86, of Gold Hill, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.

She was born Feb. 14, 1928, in Rockingham County to the late Toy E. and Mazalee Chapman Galloway. Helen attended Rockwell High School and was employed by PPG for many years.

A member of First Baptist Church of Gold Hill, she thoroughly enjoyed baking cakes.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lentz "Doc" Brady, who passed away July 23, 2008; sons David and William "Bill" Perry; grandson Jon Perry; brothers, Jack, Bernard and Edward Galloway; and sisters Lavada Pascal and Ophelia Morgan.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, James (J.C.) Perry and wife Sherry, Larry Perry, Alfred Perry and wife Cathy and Mike Perry, all of Gold Hill; grandchildren Dawn Herring (Daniel), Stacy Heath (Timothy), Daniel Perry (Kimberly), Chad Perry (Jenna), Sonya McCullough (Jonathan), Sara Perry, Eric Perry (Anna), Amanda Goodyear (Eric) and David Perry Jr.; great-grandchildren Chandler Herring, Chace Herring, Ryan Heath, Grant Heath, Conner Heath, Allie Perry, Jake Perry, Haylee Hepler, Riley McCullough, Andon McCullough and Jaice Goodyear; sisters Gaynell Funderburk (Wayne) and Edith Almond; brothers Lester, Earl, Allen, and Darrell Galloway; stepchildren Bob Brady, John Brady, Patsy Brown and Peggy Canton; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gold Hill. The remainder of the time, the family will be at their respective residences.

Service: The service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Gold Hill, conducted by Rev. Toney Parsons, pastor. Interment will follow at Gold Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thanks to nurses and doctors on the 7th Floor at Baptist Hospital, Trinity Oaks, and the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House of Salisbury for all the loving care and attention shown to Mrs. Brady.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Gold Hill, Building Fund, P.O. Box 288, Gold Hill, NC 28071.
