Donald Cleveland "D.C." Vanhoy

Mr. Donald Cleveland "DC" Vanhoy, 77 of Faith passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Liberty Commons.

Mr. Vanhoy was born on April 7, 1935 in Stanly County, son of the late John Hasten Vanhoy and Myrtle M. Mills Vanhoy and Step-Mother Bernice Vanhoy.

He was a 1952 graduate of Rockwell High School. He was a salesman for Electric Wholesale for over 39 years. Mr. Vanhoy was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, a former Sunday School teacher, Church Council Member, Usher and a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood and former Secretary. Mr. Vanhoy enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Ken Vanhoy

Mr. Vanhoy is survived by his wife , Phyllis Jean Brown Vanhoy whom he married on June 28, 1953, son Randall D. Vanhoy of Faith, daughter Dee Ann Thompson of Salisbury, grandchildren Dr. Lyndsay Vanhoy Rhodes and husband Jeff of New Orleans, Hannah Kathleen Thompson of Kannapolis, step-granddaughter Andrea Denise Thompson of Baltimore, great grandchildren Arabella Jeanne Rhodes and Juliette Delaney Rhodes.

He is also survived by his brothers Lonnie Vanhoy and wife Jacki of Faith, Ronald Dean Vanhoy and wife Pat of Rockwell, Glen Vanhoy and wife Dianne of Faith and sister in law Frankie Vanhoy and sister Vickie Bassinger and husband Stan of Rockwell.

The funeral will be at Faith Lutheran Church on Tuesday November 6th at 3:00 PM conducted by Rev. Randy Conelly, pastor. Burial will follow at Faith Lutheran Church.

The family will receive friends at Faith Lutheran Church Family Life Center from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Tuesday, November 6th.

Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Debt Reduction Fund.
