Robert Lee Shaver, 82, of 28993 A Sweet Home Church Road, Albemarle, died at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Stanly Manor Nursing Center, Albemarle.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Stanly Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Darrell Lee Thompson and Mr. Trent Thompson will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the hour of the service.
Born Dec. 2, 1927, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Odis A. and Bessie Smith Shaver and was a retired employee of Collins and Aikman Corp. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Burris Shaver of the home; two sons, Jeffery Lee Shaver of Albemarle and Ernest W. Shaver of Locust; a stepson, Jerry Lynn Morris of Norwood; three daughters, Tammy S. Thompson, Brenda S. Page and Patricia S. Helms, all of Albemarle; a brother, Hubert Shaver of Clarkton; two sisters, Ethel S. Dennis of Albemarle and Katherine S. Roberts of Mt. Gilead; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Stanly Funeral Home is serving the family.
