Harold Charles Lingle

SPENCER - Harold Charles Lingle, 82, of Spencer, went to be with the Lord after a brief illness, Friday, November 23, 2007, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born November 10, 1925, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Charles T. and Minnie Frick Lingle.

He was a graduate of Granite Quarry Schools and attended Catawba College on a basketball scholarship. He was in the U.S. Navy, where he served on a PT Boat in the Air-Sea Rescue during World War II. Mr. Lingle was employed by Carter Industries since 1975 where he worked in shipping.

He was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church, where he served on the Cemetery Committee, sang in the choir and was a former deacon. He had a lifelong love for the game of basketball, fishing at the Carolina Coast, but more than anything else he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Naomi Walton Lingle, whom he married on September 1, 1951; two daughters, Peggy Lingle Mills and husband Gary Wayne of Spencer and Dana Lingle Yarbrough of Spencer; four granddaughters, Mandy Mills Nance and husband Bradley Joel of Woodleaf, Corey Day Honeycutt and husband James Edwin of New Brunswick, N.J., Ashley Brooke Mills and Allie Lauren Mills, both of Spencer; and one great-grandson, Cameron Adam Nance

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Summersett Funeral Home from 7-8:30 tonight. The family will be at the home of daughter Peggy L. Mills, 804 N. Rowan Ave. Extention, Spencer.

Service: Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Oakdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard A Gross officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery with Military Honors.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church, Spencer.
