Sidney P. “Buddy” Brown

SALISBURY - Sidney Paul 'Buddy' Brown, 69, of Salisbury passed away Dec. 1, 2009 at his residence.

Buddy was born June 27, 1940 in Rowan County, son of the late Sidney Floyd Brown and Lucy Price Harwood Brown. He was educated in the Rowan County Schools, was owner of Brown and Sons Electric for 32 years. Buddy was a member of the National Rifle Association and loved being around his family; especially his grandchildren. He was a good father, husband and grandfather and most of all loved his family.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working and helping other people.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Breedlove Brown, who died May 3, 2006; a brother, Lonnie Ray Brown; and two sisters, Patricia Davis and Bonnie Guiton.

Survivors are two sons, Lonnie Brown and Paul Brown (Karen) of Salisbury; one daughter, Cindy B. Poole of Salisbury; son in law, Rod Poole of Salisbury; grandchildren, JR Poole, Kyler Brown, Nicole Trott, Blake and Brynn Abernathy; great grandchildren are Julian Shaver, Amber Owen, JJ Owen and Taylor Owen.

Additional survivors include two brothers, Floyd Junior Brown and Grover Brown of Salisbury; two sisters, Alma Reid of Collettsville, and Mary Earnhardt of Salisbury; a special friend, Lena Sellers Crook of Salisbury.

Service: The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at Powles Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Wade Easom, Pastor of Lane St. Church of God. Burial in the Brookhill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Powles Funeral Home Friday, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Memorial: In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, Salisbury.
