Sunday, January 22, 2012 — Hayden Murray Basinger, age 77, of 625 Bethany Road, Albemarle, died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 in Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 in Welcome Baptist Church, Albemarle. Rev. Ray Moon will officiate and burial will be in Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.
Born September 19, 1934 in Rowan County, N.C., he was the son of the late Alton Basinger and Nell Eagle Basinger.
He was a graduate of New London High School and a retired employee of Hoechst Celanese.
He was a member of Sherrill’s Road Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having been stationed in Germany for two years.
Mr. Basinger was married to the late Pauline B. Basinger, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen Hayden Basinger and wife Tracy and David Basinger, all of Albemarle; one daughter, Beth Sides of Albemarle; one stepdaughter, Deborah Upright of Salisbury; two brothers, Jerry Basinger of Salisbury and Robert Basinger of Rockwell; one sister, Dorothy B. Lowder of Mt. Pleasant; and five grandchildren, Benjamin, Jordan, Nathan, Tessa and Heather.
Stanly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
