Voight Monroe Basinger

Voight Monroe Basinger, 91, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, NC.

He was born May 18, 1931 in Faith, NC to Homer and Kate Brown Basinger. Voight graduated from Granite Quarry High School [1949] and served in the United States Navy. He retired from Swicegood Paper Company after 50 years. Voight was a member of many different organizations including the Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge in Rockwell, the Rowan County Shrine Club and the Rowan American Legion where he served as the Athletic Director for the baseball team for many years. Voight was inducted into the North Carolina American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame. He was a member of Christiana Lutheran Church. Voight loved to fish at Holden Beach and watch any baseball game, especially the Atlanta Braves. He loved to tell jokes and spend time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Voight was preceded in death by his first wife, June McKenzie Basinger; brother, Ferrell Basinger; sisters, Arlene Haynes and Carol Edwards; and step-daughter, Carol Dwiggins.

Voight is survived by his wife, Frances Morton Basinger; four daughters, Debbie Kimmer, Jill (Allen) Arrowood, Angie (Alan) Misenheimer and Dena (Allen) Misenheimer; two step-daughters, Paulette (Robert) Schilke and Judy Huffman; step-son, Roger Freeze; sister, Phyllis Beck; nine grandchildren, Lisa Kimmer, Jennifer Kimmer, Chad Yates, Garrett Yates, Hunter Arrowood, Laura Phillips, Rusty Misenheimer, Chase Misenheimer and McKenzie Misenheimer; four step-grandchildren, Paul Conner, Cassandra Kluttz, Megan Huffman and Lacey Freeze; 13 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Sunday, October 23, 2022, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Christiana Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 23, 2022, in the Christiana Lutheran Church, Salisbury, NC, with Rev. Carl Haynes officiating.

Burial will take place in the Christiana Lutheran Church Cemetery with Military Rites.
