Lucille Morton Hamilton
Lucille Kirk Morton Hamilton, age 99, of China Grove passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Liberty Commons Nursing Home.
Lucille was born February 1, 1918 in Stanly County, the daughter of the late Jodie E. Kirk and Bertha Drye Kirk. She attended Stanly County schools and worked for China Grove Textiles. She retired from Belk’s department store in 1980 after 34 years of service. She worked part time after her retirement.
Lucille was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Preceding her in death was her first husband Crofford T. Morton on April 28, 1987 and second husband Marshall Hamilton in 2001; brothers Charlie and Lewis Kirk from Concord.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters Frances Basinger (Voight) of Salisbury, Sue Boyles (Wayne) of Hickory and Kathy Moore (Tony) of China Grove; sisters Mary Katherine Burris of Albemarle and Exie Louise Wilson of Salisbury; brother Richard Kirk (Kathleen) of Richfield; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 PM Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Whitley’s Funeral Home with graveside service following at 3:00 PM Wednesday at Westlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Steve Leigh and Rev. Walt Lyman.
Memorials to Rowan County Hospice and Palliative Care.
The family would like to thank the staff of Liberty commons for their loving and compassionate care of Lucille.
