Sylvia Ann Holshouser Fraley

Sylvia Ann Holshouser Fraley, 83, of Salisbury passed to her eternal home on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, with her daughters surrounding her.

Born on August 9, 1937 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Elbert Augustus Holshouser and Beulah Maye Kluttz Holshouser. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fraley was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca “Susie” May.

Sylvia is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Junius “June” W. Fraley; daughters, Mitzi Patton (Randy) of Faith, NC, Jacqueline Beck (Gerald) of Rockwell, NC, Lucinda Fraley of Salisbury, NC and Melanie Walker of Salisbury, NC; brothers, Norman Holshouser (Sarah) of Spencer, NC, Virgil “Gus” Holshouser of Durham, NC, and James “Jimmy” Holshouser of Lexington, NC; sister, Sandra Holshouser of Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren, Hannah Patton, Emily Botzenhart (Dan), Ty Beck (McKinley), Ethan Wilhelm, Ellie Wilhelm, Bailey Wilhelm, Lucas Wilhelm, Cameron Walker and Jackson Walker; and special friend, Joan Luczai of Williamsburg, VA.

As a young mother, Sylvia drove a school bus at Faith Elementary School. She was also a devoted stay at home mother and wife. Sylvia was a very compassionate, loving and caring person to everyone she met. She loved and cared for her family and others selflessly. Sylvia was an avid sports fan and was an outstanding basketball player at Granite Quarry High school. Later in life, she loved watching her grandchildren play sports, especially basketball. She also loved working in the garden and cooking. No one left her house hungry. She was a lifelong member of Union Lutheran Church.

A private service, including family and friends, will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Lutheran Church with Pastor Heidi Punt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Narthex Expansion Fund or the Music Fund of Union Lutheran Church, 4770 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC.
