GOLD HILL - Mrs. Ila Mae Drew, 68, of Gold Hill, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Mrs. Drew was born March 19, 1943, in Rowan County, daughter of the late Jasper C. Morgan and Gladys Holshouser Morgan. Educated in Rowan County schools, she retired from Cannon Mills Plant 1 in Kannapolis as a Inspector.
She was a member of Gold Hill Wesleyan Church, The Senior Breakfast and loved the outdoors and fishing. She loved her dog, Lucky, and also loved her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick "Freddie" Lee Drew, who died Oct. 26, 1989.
She is survived by her sons, Allen Drew and wife Tammie of Gold Hill, Freddy Drew and wife Crystal of Gold Hill; daughters Penny Hammill and husband Larry of Gold Hill and Rebecca Stiltner and husband Robbie of Gold Hill; sister Shirley Leonard of Spencer; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Service: The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12 at Gold Hill Wesleyan Church in Gold Hill conducted by Rev. Harold Bumby, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home Thursday, Aug. 11 from 6 until 7:30 p.m.; and at the home of her son, Allen, the remainder of the time.
Memorials: May be made to Gold Hill Wesleyan Church, Children's Ministry, P.O. Box 286, Gold Hill, NC 28071.
