Alma Drew

Thursday, February 14, 2008 — Alma Lisk Drew, 85, of Gold Hill, died Feb. 12, 2008, at Genesis Eldercare of Salisbury. 

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Gold Hill Wesleyan Church. The Rev. Harold Bumbee, pastor, will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Friday. 

Mrs. Drew was born Aug.28, 1922, in Rowan County, daughter of the late McNeely Lisk and Minnie Augusta Shaver Lisk. She was educated in the Rowan County Schools, attended Shaver School, and graduated from Rockwell High School. Mrs. Drew was retired as a seamstress with Rickman's Mfg., attended Gold Hill Wesleyan Church, and was an avid worker with the Democrat Party.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frederick Lee Drew, Sr. who died Nov. 24, 1962, and Jessie Lee Allman who died March 20, 1986, and a son Frederick Lee Drew, Jr. who died Oct. 26, 1989. 

Survivors are two sons, Robert (Bob) McNeely Drew of Gold Hill, and Tony Lisk Drew of Virginia Beach, Va. A daughter, Nancy Drew Huneycutt of New London, a brother, Craig McNeely Lisk of Swansboro; two sisters, Minnie Juanita Lisk Guthrie of Hubert and Edna Lorraine Lisk Shai of Swansboro; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Gold Hill Wesleyan Church, Building Fund.
