SALISBURY - William "Fish" Fisher Ritchie, 93, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Genesis Eldercare of Salisbury.

Mr. Ritchie was born April 16, 1916, in Rowan County, the son of the late Edgar Guy and Beulah Holshouser Ritchie. He graduated from Granite Quarry High School in 1933 and retired from Cannon Mills where he worked in the Weave Room.

Mr. Ritchie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and a member of Faith American Legion for 60-plus years. He served in World War II in the Army Air Corps, where he was a Sergeant in the 75th Troop Carrier Squadron. He received seven Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ritchie was preceded in death by brothers Hayden Ritchie, E.G Ritchie and Billy Ritchie; and sisters Hazalene Harvell, Helen Chapman and Katherine Funderburke

Mr. Ritchie is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anneva Frick Ritchie, whom he married Dec. 22, 1950; daughter Mrs. Cindy Thomas and husband Russell of Concord; sister Mrs. Ruby Green; and grandchildren Sarah Thomas, Erin Williams and James Thomas.

Service: The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25 at Faith Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Clarence Sifford, interim pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard and N.C. National Guard.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Faith Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 25 from 10-11:30 a.m.

Memorials: May be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Building Fund, Faith, NC.
