Marie Kasten Barringer

ROCKWELL - Marie Kasten Barringer, 85, of Rockwell, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2008, at Liberty Commons in Salisbury.

Mrs. Barringer was born August 24, 1922, in Vernon County, Mo., a daughter of the late Rudolph Kasten and Amanda Weber Kasten.

She was educated in the Vernon County Schools and was a graduate of College of Commerce in Kansas City, Mo. She was employed as a Public Accountant and prepared income tax returns for many years. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service and the Town of Rockwell.

She was an active member of Grace Lower Stone Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, secretary of the Church Guild and also did office duties for the church for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rockwell Chapter.

Mrs. Barringer was preceded in death by son Paul Ray Barringer; sisters Margurite Johnson and Katherine Garton.

Mrs. Barringer is survived by her husband, Mr. Banks Barringer, whom she married on February 2, 1946; sons Dr. Michael Barringer and wife Paula of Shelby, Mr. Randall Barringer of Savannah, Ga,; daughter Mrs. Wanda Kluttz and husband Steve of Salisbury; brother Paul Kaston of Bronaugh, Mo; and grandchildren Jonathan Barringer of Portland, Ore., Julie Johnson of Charlotte, Jennifer Kluttz of Mooresville, and Bryan Kluttz of St. Louis, Mo.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, and will be at the home of Mr. Barringer the remainder of the time.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Lower Stone Church, conducted by Rev. Craig Sigmon, Pastor, St. James Lutheran Church.

Burial: Burial will follow at Grace Lower Stone Church Cemetery.
