Betty Lou Goodman Deal

SALISBURY - Mrs. Betty Lou Goodman Deal, 83, of Salisbury, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury.

She was born Sept.7, 1931, in Rowan County to the late Brown and Mae Barger Goodman. A 1949 graduate of Rockwell High School, Betty retired from Southern Bell and assisted her husband in his drafting design business. She was a member of Organ Lutheran Church and in recent years, attended St. Luke's Reformed Church.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Hoyt Wayne Deal; brother, Gene Goodman; and two sisters, Merrill Hinson and Irene Penninger.

She is survived by her son, Darrell Deal and wife Suzanne, of Salisbury; brother, Wayne Goodman and wife Barbara, of Salisbury; grandchildren, Chad Deal of Cornelius and Jesse Deal of Portland, Ore.; great-grandchild, Cash Deal; and step-grandchildren, Lauren McCombs, Katelyn McCombs and Madison McCombs.

Visitation & Service: The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 2:30-3:45 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Powles Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Jon Schell, pastor of St. Luke's Reformed Church and Rev. Carlin Ours, pastor of Organ Lutheran Church.
