ROCKWELL - Mr. Edd Archible Beaver, 95, of Rockwell, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Meadows of Rockwell.

Mr. Beaver was born on March 27, 1917 in Rowan County a son of the late Arthur A. Beaver and Lizzie Misenheimer Beaver.

Mr. Edd was a 1935 graduate of Rockwell High School and a 1937 graduate of Pheiffer College having received a Degree in Business Administration. After college he worked for Cannon Mills for 19 years.

A Veteran of World War II, Edd enlisted in 1942 and was stationed in Washington, DC and Pearl Harbor. He was discharged in 1945 with the rank of Lieutenant J.G.

After working for Cannon Mills, Edd became a U.S. Post Office Carrier until his retirement 27 years later, and was a member of NC Rural Letter Carriers Association, NCRLCA Carrier of the Year 1979, NCRLCA Chaplin 1998 and was awarded the Million Mile Safe Driving Award by the U.S. Postal Service.

Edd was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, was a Sunday School Teacher for 40 years and had served on the church council, served as Vice Chairman of Council and was Chairman of the Building Committee during the Sunday School Addition. Mr. Edd cared about his community having served on the Rockwell School Board, was a former Rockwell Civitan, had served on the Rockwell Library Board, a former member of Miller-Russell American Legion Post 112 where he received the 60 Year Certificate, he received the 60 year award from Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge where he was awarded Life Membership, was Lodge Master in 1949 and 1951, and Mason of the Year in 1985. Edd was a member of the York Rite Bodies and Oasis Shrine Temple, and a former member of the Young at Heart Club of Rockwell serving as President in 1985.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth Lipe Beaver, brothers, Carlee, Herman, Clyde, Rufus, Junius, Ben and Billy and sisters Sarah Wagoner, Nola Peeler and Edith Corriher.

Survivors include sons, Dale A. Beaver and wife, Marsha, of Rockwell, Dan K. Beaver and wife Susan of Mauldin, S.C. and Dean R. Beaver and wife Billie of Rockwell, and brother Hugh A. Beaver and wife, Betty, of Rockwell; six grandchildren, Carrie Kirby (Jacob), Deana Beaver (fiancee' Andy Goodman), Evan Beaver (Olesya), Jamie Newsome (Brandon), Adina Martin (Michael) and Matt Beaver (fiancee' Ruth Voorhis); and eight great-grandchildren.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor.

Visitation: The family will receive friends after the funeral service in the church sanctuary.
