Nell Brown Bost

ROCKWELL - Nell Brown Bost, 86, of Rockwell, passed away Sept. 3, 2008, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Mrs. Bost was born May 11, 1922, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late William Lee Brown and Esther Trexler Brown. She was a 1939 graduate of Rockwell High School and attended florist school in Charlotte.

Mrs. Bost was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a former organist for many years. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star Rockwell Chapter 317, which she helped organize.

She was organist of the Rockwell Chapter OES for many years and was also former DDGM and former Grand Organist for the Grand Chapter OES of North Carolina. She was also a former member of Miller Russell Post 112 Ladies Auxiliary and former co-owner and operator of Rockwell Florist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Ruby Ridenhour.

Survivors include her husband, Mr. Hoyt G. Bost, whom she married April 12, 1941; one brother, James L. Brown and wife Helen of Salisbury; and one sister, Mrs. Blanch B. Drew, Rockwell.

Service: The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at Immanuel Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. Bruce Sheeks, pastor, with burial at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, or Rockwell Chapter OES 317.
