SALISBURY - Billy Ray Crawford, 63, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014.
Born Nov. 21, 1950 in Salisbury, he was the son of the late John Franklin Crawford and Grace Eller Crawford.
Mr. Crawford graduated from East Rowan High School in 1969 and Catawba College. He was a correctional officer at the Piedmont Correctional Facility and later was a Parole Officer for Rowan County before retiring. Mr. Crawford was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and enjoyed bowling, camping, hiking and football. He had a passion for Catawba College ball games.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Dennis Crawford and wife Kathy, Roger Crawford and Joel Crawford and companion Sherri File, all of Salisbury; nieces, Jessica Foutz and husband Jon, McKenzie Crawford, Christina Crawford, nephew Dennis Crawford, Jr. and great-niece, Jaylee Foutz.
Visitation and Services: The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at Providence United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Aldana W. Allen officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or Oncology Research at Wake Forest School of Medicine.

SALISBURY - Billy Ray Crawford, 63, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014.
