Phyllis Peeler Collins
CHINA GROVE - Phyllis Nadine Peeler Collins, 72, of Franklin Street, China Grove, passed away Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Carolina Specialty Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center Mercy in Charlotte, with her family and Rev. Steve Wilson at her bed side.
Phyllis was born March 12, 1938, in Rowan County. She was the daughter to the late Clarence an Dora Mae Lyerly Peeler. She graduated from Granite Quarry High School in 1957 and retired with school food service in Rowan County.
Phyllis was a member of the First Baptist Church in China Grove.
Survivors include her husband, William Sidney Collins, whom she married June 30, 1957; two sons, Richard A. and wife, Andora Collins from Rockwell and William S. Collins Jr. of China Grove; a daughter, Pamela Jane Efird and husband, Joel from Rockwell; one brother, Arnold Peeler of Rockwell; three sisters, Ruby Lassiter of Linwood, Virginia Holshouser of Rockwell and Jean Shuping of Rockwell; and four grandchildren.
Service: Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Wilson and Rev. Ray O'Farrell. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation: There will be a visitation on Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove from 7-8:30 p.m.
