Leon Parker

Mr. Roy "Leon" Parker, 87, of Richfield, NC passed away on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albemarle, NC. Leon was born Aug. 27, 1926 in Rowan County the son of the late, William Luther Parker and Mary Jane Wyatt Parker.

Leon was educated in the Rowan County Schools, was a life member of Luther's Lutheran Church, Richfield, a former member of the Church Council and the church property committee. He was very devoted to his Sunday School Class where he had perfect attendance for 25 years and was the former treasurer. He enjoyed playing the guitar, gardening and sharing his vegetables. He was very devoted to his granddaughters. Leon retired from doing Carpenter work on homes.

In addition to his parents, Leon was also preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Mae Graham Parker in 2008, brothers and sisters, Ethel Karriker, Clifford Parker, Mae Lambert, Velma Norris, Frances Trexler and Jeanette Smith also preceded him in death.

Survivors, daughter, Debbie Parker Lowder and husband, "Buddy" of Albemarle, grandchildren, Mallory Lowder and fiancee, C.B. Gilbert, Casey Lowder and Abby Lowder.

Visitation: 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at Luther's Lutheran Church, Richfield. .

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM Thursday at Luther's Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Tommy Beaver, interim pastor. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: Luther's Lutheran Church.

RICHFIELD - Services for Roy "Leon" Parker, 87, of Richfield, who died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014,have been rescheduled.

Visitation: 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Luthers Lutheran Church. Service: 3 p.m. Saturday at the church

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the family.
