Notes for Georgia Mae “Bobbie“ Perkins
Georgia Mae “Bobbie” Perkins Yost

Georgia Mae “Bobbie” Perkins Yost, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021.

She was born in Wichita, KS, to the late Harold and Mildred Keys Perkins and attended city schools in Elon, KS. After her marriage to Marvin Brown Yost, she became a devoted and proud military spouse during his 20-year career in the United States Navy. She loved her family dearly and was especially devoted to her children and grandchildren, always giving with her whole heart. Mrs. Yost worked in retail for several years but her most rewarding job was being a homemaker and making sure her family always had what they needed. She was a talented seamstress who crocheted countless afghans, and was extremely creative with numerous other homemade crafts, many of which are treasured pieces in the homes of her children and grandchildren. A gifted cook and baker, Mrs. Yost was known for her cinnamon rolls and homemade doughnuts, and her family enjoyed all sorts of candies she made for the holidays, particularly her fudge. Mrs. Yost was a member of Wittenberg Lutheran Church in Granite Quarry where she worked with the Prayer Shawl Ministry and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rockwell Chapter 317 where she received her 50-year membership pin in 2019. Throughout her life, Mrs. Yost was known for her spunk, energy and generous nature, but most of all, a very kind and loving heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Brown Yost; and her son-in-law, Tony Ray Brown.

Mrs. Yost is survived by her children, Connie Yost Brown of Salisbury, Billie Jo Yost Schweitzer and husband, Edward, of Matthews and, Michael B Yost and wife, Patty, of Salisbury; six grandchildren, Ashlee Claud, Ryan Brown, Cortney Yost, Erin Schweitzer, Kristen Sides, and Tyler Schweitzer; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A private service for the family of Mrs. Yost was held in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rockwell, officiated by Reverend Kyle Bates.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 10 Glenlake Pkwy NE-South Tower, Suite 400, Atlanta, GA.

Powles Staton Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Yost family.
