SALISBURY - Carolyn Rogers, age 74, of Salisbury, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at her home.

Mrs. Rogers was born Aug. 12, 1934, in Salisbury, a daughter of the late Cletus Hoke and Thelma Whitman Fink. She was a homemaker and member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, where she was active as a Sunday School teacher, former choir director and a member of WELCA Circle - Friendship.

She was a beloved Mother and Grandmother and lived for the children in her life. Her kindness and generosity of spirit touched all who were privileged to know her.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald E. Rogers, whom she married June 14, 1952; daughter Shalyn Barrier and husband Dr. Ronnie Barrier of Salisbury; grandchildren Whitley Barrier, Garrett Moore and wife Jamie Shuler Moore; great-grandchildren Reaghan and Rylan Moore; son Greyland and wife Kim Hill Rogers of Salisbury; grandchildren Colton, Weston and Ashton Rogers; son Kendal and wife Lynn Gobble Rogers of Salisbury; grandchildren Avery and Evan Rogers; son Kelan Rogers of Salisbury; son Jerren and wife Cindy Marie Rogers of Charlotte; and grandchildren Cole and Chase Rogers.

Visitation: The family will be at Powles Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 and at the residence the remainder of the time.

Graveside Service: 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Funeral Service: To follow the graveside service at St. Matthews Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Gary S. Coble, pastor, Rev. Gilmer Boggs and Vicar Volley Hanson.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Family Life Center, St. Matthews Lutheran Church; or The Christmas Happiness Fund, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, NC.
