Paul Rufus Lowder, 91, of Albemarle passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in Stanly Manor Nursing Center. His funeral service will be 2 PM Friday, May 8, 2015 in Prospect Baptist Church with Pastor Stoney Benfield and Rev. Dr. Darrell Huneycutt officiating. Burial will follow in Stanly Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at Stanly Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM. At other hours the family will gather at the home of his son.
Born September 5, 1923 in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Robert Lowder and Margaret Kimrey Lowder and was a retired employee of China Grove Cotton Mill. Mr. Lowder was a member of Prospect Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and member of the Hollis Barringer Sunday School Class. He was an avid hunter and he loved to garden.
Mr. Lowder was married to the late Martha Lucille Moyle Lowder who preceded him in death in 2007. Survivors include son Reggie Paul Lowder and wife Judy of New London, grandchildren Brett Lowder and wife Holli of Albemarle and Heather Lowder of Charlotte, great-grandchildren Brody and Taegan Lowder and Kinsley Lee.
The family requests that memorials be made to Prospect Baptist Church, 502 Prospect Church Rd., Albemarle, NC 28001 or to Stanly Manor, 625 Bethany Rd., Albemarle, NC 28001.
