Verna Canupp Miller

ROCKWELL - Verna Canupp Miller, 89, of Rockwell, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Verna was born Aug. 29, 1919, in Stanly County, the daughter of the late Coney Canupp and Hattie Coley Canupp. Verna was a graduate of Richfield High School, a member of St. James Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Vanhoy-Sells VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 9134, where she was former secretary and treasurer. Verna had worked for Coy Cleaners.

In addition to her parents, Verna was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Delbert Alexander Miller; son Richard Delbert Miller; and sisters Lorene Moss, Hazel Canupp and Lillian Varner.

Survivors include son Gary Miller and wife Connie of Rockwell; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister Elizabeth Biggers of Harrisburg.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13 at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.

Funeral Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 at St. James Lutheran Church, Rockwell, conducted by Rev. Craig Sigmon, Pastor. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Rockwell, NC.
