Notes for Varessa Louise Threet
Varessa Louise Threet Miller

Varessa Louise Threet Miller went home to be with Jesus on August 19, 2008 at her home on Long Ferry Rd, Salisbury, following a four year fight with cancer and three weeks of being seriously ill.

Louise was born October 27, 1939 in Peel, Arkansas, the daughter of the late James Alfred Threet and Nellie Pearl Devereaux Threet. She received her education from Yellville-Summett High School, Southern Baptist College (Now Williams University) and Ouaticha Baptist University, all in Arkansas. While in college she served on the Life Service Band of witnesses for the Lord, the B.S.U. and three summers as a missionary in Arkansas and Missouri. One summer she served on the staff at Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly near Asheville, NC, Where she met her husband.

Louise and Rev. Ted Miller were married on June 4, 1964. Vee", as she was called by her husband, served the Lord Faithfully with her husband for 44 years through several churches. During this time she also taught school in the coal mining camp at Trammel, Virginia and the Elementary School in Cleveland, Vairginia. She also taught in a nursery school in Sterling Park, Virginia, and the Wee Center at Baptist Church in Salisbury. For 4 years she taught in the Heritage Christian Academy near Mooresville. Vee was a chalk artist and did programs for churches and clubs since early 1980's.

A part of their ministry together was “Clowning for Jesus”, where Vee served as the clown “Joy'us". She had made and sold puppets which have been used in missions both in the US and in foreign countries. At one of her shows someone said, “She sure does like RED." Most all of her puppets had something red on them - hair, dress, shirt, ribbons, pants, shoes, even buttons. Red was her favorite color. At Enon Baptist Church she was teacher in the Ruth Bible Class and worked with the Puppet Ministry.

Vee was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Rev. James D. Threet.

Vee is survived by her husband, one daughter, Maurlisa Grace Jones and husband Michael and granddaughter Annessa Grace Jones of Leesburg, Va., one son, James Bruce Miller and wife April of Walnut Cove, NC; two brothers, Rev. Daniel Threet and wife Marie of Alexander, Ark. And Thomas Threet of Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Velma Sue Shay and husband Bob of Ada, Ok.; and sister-in-law Mrs. John (Zelphia) Bates of Sulphur Rock, Ark.; two nieces with their families; and six nephews with their families.

Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service.

The service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, at Enon Baptist Church conducted by pastor Dr. Rev. Kendal Mobley. Burial will be at the cemetery at Trading Ford Baptist Church.

Memorial may be made to the Trading Ford Baptist Cemetery Fund, or to the donor's own choosing.

She will be greatly missed by the many friends that she made along the way.

Our thanks to all the medical staff at Carolina Oncology and Rowan Regional Home Health & Hospice who has worked with her during her fight with cancer.
