SALISBURY - Rev. Coy Ralph Miller, 95, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at Rowan Regional Medical Center after 13 days of illness.

Born Nov. 6, 1910, in Spencer, Rev. Miller was the son of the late Ernest Edgar and Lillian Agatha Eller Miller. He was educated at Boyden High School, Pfeiffer College, Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Rev. Miller was ordained as a Baptist minister by Trading Ford Baptist Church and officers of Rowan Baptist Association. He served as pastor of East Corinth and Wyatt 's Grove Baptist churches in Rowan County and Sandy Springs Baptist Church in Iredell County. In 1948, he moved to South Carolina, where he served as pastor of Philippi and Fairview Baptist churches in Union County; First Baptist Church of Blacksburg; and Flint Hill Baptist Church of Fort Mill. He moved back to North Carolina in 1976, where he served Emmanuel Baptist Church in Salisbury. Rev. Miller had served as moderator in the Union, Cherokee and York Baptist associations, also preaching the annual sermon in each. He also served on the General Board of the South Carolina Baptist State Convention and the Board of the Spartanburg Mental Health Clinic. He was program chairman of the Tri-County Pastor 's Conference, which includes Union, Spartanburg and Cherokee counties in South Carolina. After retirement, Rev. Miller served three churches as interim pastor and was the preacher in 23 churches in Rowan County. For six years, he served as assistant pastor to his son, the Rev. Ted Miller, at Needmore Baptist Church. In the closing years of his life, he taught the Raymond Gobble Sunday School Class at Trading Ford Baptist Church, where he was a member. He also was a coordinator for Meals on Wheels.

Rev. Miller was raised in the Kelly Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Commandeer of Knights Templar No. 16, both in Union, S.C. Later, he was a member of Buffalo Masonic Lodge No. 202 in Blacksburg, S.C., and was past president of Blacksburg Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by son C.R. Miller Jr., who died in 1931; his parents; sisters Olivia Miller File, Rena Miller Morris and Pauline Miller Leazer; and brother Edgar A. Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Kesler Miller, whom he married Nov. 4, 1930; sons and daughters-in-law Ted M. and Varessa Miller of Salisbury, Joel C. and June Miller of Union, S.C., and Clarence E. and Jetanna Miller of Blacksburg, S.C.; brothers Ernest E. Miller of Cary and James J. Miller of Locust Grove, Va.; sister Zeta Miller Smith of Salisbury; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Lyerly Funeral Home.

Service: 1 p.m. Saturday at Trading Ford Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Motley, pastor, and the Rev. Ted M. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be James B. Miller, Travis Miller, Terry Hopper, Scott Barkley, Christopher Kerley and Michael D. Jones.
