Frances Heglar

Frances Mills Heglar, age 83 of Kannapolis, went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2024. Born in Mecklenburg County on June 27, 1940, she was the daughter of the late AZ Mills and the late Mary Geneva Purser Mills.

Frances was married to the love of her life Donald Heglar for 60 years prior to his passing on December 5, 2022. She was a faithful member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in China Grove since 1964, where she worked faithfully in the Sunday School department, vacation bible school and anywhere she had the opportunity to serve. Frances was also very active with the meals on wheels ministry. She was a fabulous stay at home mom when her kids were growing up. She was a wonderful cook and cooked and fed all the kids in the neighborhood. She cooked family dinner every Sunday for all her family to enjoy. She was nicknamed pork chop as a young girl for her love of pork chops. Frances loved popcorn, seafood and country ham. She worked at Patterson Farms after her retirement where she loved being able to visit and talk with people. Frances was also preceded in death by her cat Fuzzy who passed away on the same day as her.

Frances, is survived by 3 daughters; Tamara Gentle (Tim) of Mt. Pleasant, Donna Walls (Ray) of Kannapolis and Debbie Efird (Darrell) of China Grove: 7 grandchildren; Justin Wyatt (Alisha), Jessika Helms (Daniel), Brittany Rogers (Adam), Macy Overcash (Brian), Michael Walls, Amanda Williams and Josiah Efird (Maggie): 10 great grandchildren; Braylee, Laci, Tensley, Phillip, Brayden, Landon, Lawson, Milli, Addison and Molli.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 15, 2024, at 1:30 PM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 326 N. Main St, China Grove, with Pastors Jeff Topinka and Joel Ervin to officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM with the service to follow from 1:30 to 2:30 at the church. Entombment will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday January 17, 2024, at West Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Mark's Lutheran Church 326 N. Main St., China Grove, NC, or the Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC.
