The funeral will be Tuesday for Ruth Rebecca Walton Lyerly, 79, Salisbury, who died Saturday (Oct. 2, 2004) at Genesis Eldercare after four months of declining health.
Born July 10, 1925, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lilly Holden Walton. Mrs. Lyerly graduated in 1943 from East Spencer High School and retired after more than 40 years with Cannon Mills Co. She was a member of Trading Ford Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, LeRoy Junior Lyerly, whom she married March 28, 1947; sons Melvin Lyerly, Salisbury, and Tommy Lyerly, Rockwell; a sister, Mary Kirk, Salisbury; and two grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 1 p.m. Tuesday, Rowan Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Mike Motley, pastor, Trading Ford Baptist Church.
