Hazel Ritchie Lyerly
SALISBURY - Hazel Kathleen Ritchie Lyerly, age 89, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Lyerly was born in Rowan County on January 19, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Daisy Bell Safrit Ritchie and the late Charles Augustus Ritchie.
Mrs. Lyerly was a graduate of Granite Quarry High School, Retired from Winn-Dixie after 32 years. She was a Life member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Southern Seminary Aux, Boozer Group, Altar Guild and Volunteered at the Lutheran Home.
Mrs. Lyerly is preceded in death by her husband, James Paul Lyerly (December 23, 1988); a granddaughter, Paula Lyerly; sisters, Mildred Peeler, Helen Jones and Gladys Suther and brothers, Floyd and Ralph Ritchie.
Mrs. Lyerly is survived by a son, Vaughn Lyerly (Linda) of Faith; three grandchildren, Michael Lyerly (Amy) of China Grove, Bethany Whisnant (Kenneth) of Salisbury, Kristan Friel (Robert) of Salisbury; four great-grandchildren, Dustin and Matthew Lyerly, Lauren and Lindsey Whisnant, and Baby Ryan Expected August 24, 2008 .
Service: Graveside Committal will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery. The Memorial Service will follow in the church conducted by Rev. Bill Ketchie. Mrs. Lyerly will be placed in the Narthex of the Church 30 minuets prior to Graveside Service.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lyerly Funeral Home.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 205 St. Paul's Church Rd., Salisbury NC 28146.
