Mrs. Willie Mae Lyerly Mills, 83, of Granite Quarry, NC died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Liberty Commons. Mrs. Mills was a daughter of the late Roy Lee and Minnie Morgan Lyerly.
She was educated in the Rowan County Schools, was a homemaker and a Life Member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Former Sunday School Class Teacher. Life Member of WELCA.
Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by two sons, Bobby Gene Mills and Donald Roy Mills and also one Great Grandchild, Brother; Cecil Lyerly & Sister; Athalene Call.
Survivors include Husband Horace William Mills whom she married Feb. 2, 1940. Son, Alan Mills of Rockwell, NC, daughter, Dianne M. Artz of Faith, NC & 7 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. Brother; Leroy Lyerly, Salisbury, NC, Sisters; Garnell Trexler, Lexington, NC, Shirley Wagoner, Minneapolis, MN.
Services: 4:00 P M Friday, July 22, 2005, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. David Ridenhour, Pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation: Thursday evening, July 21, 2005. From 6:30-8:30 PM at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, NC and the remainder of the time at the home of the daughter, Dianne M. Artz, Faith, NC and the Son, Alan Mills of Rockwell, NC
Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or to Alzheimer’s Disease Foundation, NC Chapter.
