Ruby Treece Arey

Gold Hill - Mrs. Ruby Treece Arey, 89 of Gold Hill, loving and giving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, neighbor and friend passed away August 10, 2007 at her residence. Mrs. Arey was born July 3, 1918 in Stanly County, daughter of the late Haughtie L. Treece and Bessie Hahn Treece. She was educated in the Stanly Co. Schools. Mrs. Arey was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, which she loved so much, Past President of the United Methodist Women, S.S. Teacher, and Organist. She was a member of the Homemakers Club, Senior Group "Friendship Circle", She loved quilting, sewing, gardening, cooking, and music. She received recognition as special mission for ministries with women, children and youth. Laity Service Award was received from the Western N.C. Methodist Conference.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Gleason, Burley and Leonard Treece. 2 sisters, Artie T. Earnhardt, Jewel T. Hill. Mrs. Arey was previously married to Fred Arey, who died in 1981.

Survivors are, two daughters, Carolyn A. Galloway and husband Earl of Gold Hill, Sylvia A. Stokes and husband, Gary of Salisbury. Grandchildren, Tammy L. Maroukis and husband David of Kalamazoo, Mich. Anita L. Maddaluna and husband David of Mt. Pleasant, Eric Scott Stokes and wife Jennifer of Rockwell. Great Grandchildren, Cory and Lindsey Huneycutt, Morgan and Kendall Maddaluna, Brianna and Spencer Maroukis.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at the Zion United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Marion Fulk, Pastor, with burial in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Saturday at the Powles Funeral Home and at the residence the remainder of the time.
