ROCKWELL - Hayden Curtis Moose, 84, of Rockwell, passed away July 6, 2009, at the N.C. State Veterans Home in Salisbury.

Mr. Moose was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Rowan County, a son of the late Curtis V. Moose and Mae Eagle Moose. He graduated from Rockwell High School in 1941 and attended Pfeiffer University.

Mr. Moose was co-owner of Moose & Son Grocery for 40 years and retired in 1985. He was a life-member of Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge 657, was past Master, and had received his 60-year pin.

He was a faithful member of St. James Lutheran Church, where he held numerous offices of the Church. He was a former Sunday School Teacher and Church Council Member and had been on the Property Committee.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ada Pless Moose, whom he married Jan. 15, 1944; one daughter, Mrs. Linda Holman and husband Roger of Matthews; one half brother, Thomas Moose of Charlotte; and one half sister, Mrs. Nancy Bailey of Salisbury. Two grandchildren also survive, Matthew Elliott Holman and Whitney Charlotte Holman.

Service and Visitation: The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 9 at St. James Lutheran Church. It will be conducted by the Rev. Charles McManus, former Pastor, with burial in Brookhill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Church Fellowship Hall from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
