Rosa Williams Morgan

SALISBURY - Rosa Williams Bean Morgan, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at Autumn Care of Salisbury after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Morgan was born on Feb. 10, 1926 in Rowan County, the daughter of the late John Carlie and Pearl Lawrence Williams.

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, George W. Bean, a brother, Thurman Williams, and a son-in-law, James Sexton.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ralph H. Morgan of the home; two sons, Ron (Beth) Bean of Salisbury and Ken (Jodi) Morgan; four daughters, Mitzi (Jay) Crane of Salisbury, Kay (John) Lentz of Norman, Okla., Pam (Barry) Clark of Milford, N.J., and Denise Sexton of Denton; seven grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ophelia Curlee and Shirley Jackson; six sisters-in-laws, Mary Williams, Ruth Turner, Pearlie Carver, Betty Morton, Maryphine Eudy, and Myrtle Earnhardt.

Mrs. Morgan was a graduate of Rockwell High School. She was employed until her retirement as a supervisor at Lyon-Shaw Furniture in Salisbury. During her retirement she enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing trips to the Outer Banks as well as family beach trips. She was also an avid quilter, cook, and gardener. She was known to bake a cake for all her friends she frequently met for breakfast on their birthdays. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all.

Visitation and Services: Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at Powles Funeral Home and the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013 at the chapel of the funeral home, conducted by her nephew, the Rev. Bobby Curlee. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens.

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Morgan family.
