Marie Cranford Poole

SALISBURY - Marie Cranford Poole, 87, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Born Jan. 3, 1922, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late McCoy Cranford and Lettie Agner Cranford.

Mrs. Poole graduated from Rockwell High School and had worked at North Carolina Finishing, Laguna Sportswear and Carter Children's Clothing.

A lifelong member of Providence United Methodist Church, Mrs. Poole served as the Ladies Adult Sunday School teacher, was a member of the Ladies Quilting Group and was a member of the Missionary Ladies.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Keith Lewis Poole, on June 1, 2006; son Richard Keith "Ricky" Poole; daughter Barbara Poole Hurley; and sisters Mary Lou Morgan and Madelene Cranford.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Judy Vestal (Frank), of Kernersville; her son, Larry Poole (Naomi) of Salisbury; a brother, Jimmy Cranford (Liz) of Wake Forest; a sister, Earlene Crossett of Faith; four grandchildren, Angie Poole, Dustin Poole, Jennifer Vestal Chapman (Steve) and Kevin Hurley; two great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Katie Hovater; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Summersett Funeral Home, Wednesday, Dec. 30 from 6-8 p.m.

Service: Funeral services honoring Mrs. Poole will be held Thursday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Gobble officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
