Notes for Garner Webster Kepley
Garner Webster Kepley

SALISBURY - Garner Webster Kepley, of Salisbury, went home to be with his precious Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, Sept. 30, 2007.

Born July 5, 1912, Mr. Kepley was schooled in the Rowan County schools and was skilled at many trades. He was a construction worker and farmer in his early years. He became a master craftsman, including handcrafting lovely antique replica furniture.

Mr. Kepley and his wife, Bertha, were owners and operators of Kepley's Antiques on Faith Road for 35 years. Many of his antique reproductions were displayed for sale and became "favorites" among many of their customers.

Mr. Kepley and his wife were married for 73 years before the Lord called her home in 2003.

A lover of music, Mr. Kepley was well respected for his strong and impressive bass voice. He and his daughters performed often at local churches as a trio singing gospel music.

Mr. Kepley served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons at Faith Baptist Church, was Sunday School superintendent, teacher of the Young Boys Class and served on numerous and various committees, including the Building Committee and Boy Scout Committeeman.

Mr. Kepley loved his Lord and Savior and leaves a legacy as a devout prayer warrior to his five generations of family and host of friends. His life was committed to the Lord and he lived for the privilege of getting to Heaven. He has accomplished that goal as he is standing on Heaven's shores today.

Preceding Mr. Kepley in death were his parents, Arthur R. and Jessie Wood Kepley; wife Bertha Kepley, whom he married March 9, 1930, on April 14, 2003; brothers Paul and "Blue" Kepley; and daughter Rose Kepley Arey on Feb. 25, 2007.

Surviving are his children, Shirley Kepley Russ and Gary Webster Kepley and wife Gail; grandchildren Sally Arey Bame, Joe C. Arey III, Timothy W. Kepley, Melody Russ Welch, Jill Russ Fisher, Amy Russ Sifford, Lydia Russ Morrow, Lynne K. Robinson, Justin P. Kepley, Lindsey K. Hamrick and Katie Beth Kepley; step-grandchildren Stacey Moore and Brett Goodman; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers George Kepley and Wade Kepley; and sister Geneva "Sis" Brown.
