SALISBURY - James Lee Brown, 88, of Salisbury, passed away, Monday, April 30, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born April 1, 1924, in Gold Hill, he was the son of the late William Lee and Esther Trexler Brown. Mr. Brown was educated in the Rockwell schools and graduated from Rockwell High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

Mr. Brown was a Rural Mail Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years before retiring in 1985.

He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, served as a communion assistant, on the church council and was a member of the choir. He was also a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association.

Mr. Brown enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Ridenhour and Nell Bost.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Helen Trexler Brown; sons Tim Brown and wife Judy of Faith and Ted Brown and wife Tammy of Salisbury; sister Blanche Drew of Rockwell; grandchildren Lauren, Christen, Jordan and Reagan Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service: Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday (May 2) at Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Don Safrit, officiating. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall at Messiah Lutheran Church.

Memorials: May be made to Messiah Lutheran Church.
