Margie Shaver Gardner, 90, of 33426 Old Salisbury Road, Albemarle, formerly of Anderson Grove Church Road, died at 11:50 p.m. Friday at Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center in Albemarle. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Stanly Funeral Home. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday with a 30-minute state in Anderson Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Ron Honeycutt will officiate.
Born Jan. 13, 1918, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Travis William and Iola Crowell Shaver. She was a retired manager of the cafeteria at North Albemarle Elementary School. She loved to fish.
She was married to the late Jonah Beckum “JB” Gardner, who preceded her in death March 14, 2005.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shelby Jean Eudy, May 27, 2008.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Gardner and Danny Gardner, both of Norwood; three half-sisters, Annie Scott and Ruby Furr, both of Albemarle, and Betty Harden of South Carolina; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Anderson Grove Baptist Church Building Fund.
