SALISBURY - Curtis Ray Broadway, 80 of Salisbury died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009 at the Laurels of Salisbury.

Born Oct. 10, 1929 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Lindsay and Floy Harris Broadway. He attended the Salisbury City schools and was a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Broadway was a long distance self employed truck driver before retiring. He was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and the Grubb Shoaf Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Morgan Broadway; daughters, Deena Tatum and Wendy Harkey (Jeff); brother William L. Broadway (Margaret); grandchildren, Melinda Hartman (Jamie), Michael Tatum; step-grandchildren Jordan and Hunter Harkey; great-grandchild Joseph Hartman all of Salisbury and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service: Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dale Bost, Minister, Rev. Mitchell Murrow and Rev. Jon Hunter, Associate Minister of the First United Methodist Church of Salisbury officiating. Mr. Broadway will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. The Grubb Shoaf Sunday School Class will be seated in a group. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Saturday at the Summersett Funeral Home and at other times the family will be at the home.
