The funeral is today for Robert Oscar Morgan, 77, Salisbury, who died Monday (Nov. 5, 2001) at Presbyterian Hospital,Charlotte, after two weeks of serious illness.
Born Sept. 9, 1924, in Rowan County, Mr. Morgan, a son of the late Clarence S. and Erma Shaver Morgan, was educated in the Rowan County schools.
He recently retired from Bill’s Exterminating Co. Earlier, he retired after 27 years from A &P Co., where he was an assistant manager.
He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and a church trustee.
Survivors include wife Arleene Koontz Morgan, whom he married Oct. 30, 1943; son Robert David “Bob” Morgan, Davidson; daughter Judy Morgan Peeler, Salisbury; sister Gertrude Morgan Broadway, Salisbury; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Services: 3 today, Emmanuel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Donald S. Wagner, former pastor, and the Rev. Bill Hallman, pastor. Entombment at Rowan Memorial Park.
Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge. The family will be at the home.
Memorials: Emmanuel Baptist Church, Building Fund.
