Lois L. Goodman

GOLD HILL - Mrs. Lois Lomax Goodman, 83, of Gold Hill, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.

She was born July 22, 1930, in Stanly County to the late George Henry and Ethel Rogers Lomax. Lois was a 1947 graduate of Millingport High School and retired from Carolina Maid as a seamstress.

A member of Liberty United Methodist Church, she was active with Liberty Sunshiners, United Methodist Women and was a former Sunday School teacher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight "Doodle" Goodman; son Randy Powell; brother Boyce Worth Lomax; and sisters Ruby Hatley, Geraldine Smith and Hilda Frick.

Lois is survived by her son, Lee Powell and wife Hellen of Albemarle; daughters Brenda Melton Coley of Albemarle, Barbara Poplin of Albemarle and Deborah Lynn Hopkins and husband Steve of Gold Hill; brother Wade "Tom" Lomax of Richfield; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to nurse and close friend Nancy Caudle for the years of love, support and care; and to Dr. Myron Goodman and the staff of Novant Health Rowan Medical Center for their care and support.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Sunday, July 20 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Liberty United Methodist Church.

Service: The funeral service will follow at Liberty UMC at 4 p.m. conducted by Rev. Charles Curtis, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials: May be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, Building Fund.
