Notes for Elizabeth “Dawn” Mills
Elizabeth "Dawn" Mills Lowe

Elizabeth "Dawn" Mills Lowe, 57, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC.

She was born November 5, 1964, in Rowan County, to the late Jerry Wayne Mills and Ada Jones Mills. Mrs. Lowe was a 1983 Graduate of East Rowan High School and a 1987 Graduate of Appalachian State University, where she received her bachelors degree in education. She then began the only "job" she ever had, her career in education at East Rowan High School where she taught for 29 years, retiring in 2016. Even after retirement, she continued to help at the school in any way that she could, especially helping to keep the score books for athletic teams. She was a charter member of Nazareth Community Church where she was also an active volunteer in many areas of the church. Mrs. Lowe remained a devoted graduate of Appalachian State University and as a mother of four, she never came across a sports team that her children were a part of that she did not like.

She is survived by her husband, Gregory Edwin Lowe, whom she married May 5, 1990; children, Carmen Lowe Basgall (Nicholas) of Raeford, Shelby Grace Lowe of Salisbury, Chaney Mills Lowe of Salisbury, and Jocelyn Lowe Shuping (Logan) of Rockwell; brother, Jason Wayne Mills (Angela) of Salisbury; and nieces, Atlanta & Margaret Mills.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday, April 22, from 10:00 am until 11:45 am at Nazareth Community Church. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm on Friday, at the church, with Rev. Mike Shoaf, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nazareth Community Church, P.O. Box 444, Rockwell, NC; or Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House, 1229 Statesville Boulevard, Salisbury, NC.

Powles Staton Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Lowe family.
