SALISBURY - Ada Elizabeth Mills, 61, of Salisbury, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord.

Mrs. Mills was born Feb. 25, 1944, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late George Freeland Jones Jr. and Margaret Fortune Jones. She was a 1962 graduate of East Rowan High School. She also attended Charlotte Memorial School of Nursing. Mrs. Mills worked for the Rowan County Schools with severely and profoundly handicapped children. She was a teacher 's assistant with Mrs. June Poole at Rockwell Elementary School. A graduate of Cabarrus School of Nursing with an RN degree, in 1995 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Wingate University. She had worked at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital as a charge nurse. She was also a member of the American Nursing Association.

Mrs. Mills was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, the UMW and was active in the children's ministry. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by a brother, G.F. Jones III, and a sister, Ruby Jones Rhinehardt.

Mrs. Mills is survived by her husband, Jerry W. Mills, whom she married Feb. 22, 1964; son Jason Wayne Mills and daughter-in-law Angie Motley Mills of Salisbury; daughter Dawn Mills Lowe and son-in-law Greg E. Lowe of Salisbury; brother Leonard Jones of Rockwell; sister Donna Jones Swinson of Rockwell; and grandchildren Carmen Lowe, Shelby Lowe, Chaney Lowe, Jocelyn Lowe, Atlanta Taylor Mills and Margaret Carol Mills.

Service : The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Providence United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Dan Gobble, pastor, with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation : The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials : In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence United Methodist Church, Scholarship Fund.
