Sunday, July 18, 2010 — Funeral services for Frances Furtick Shaver, 84, of Lexington, S.C. were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Cayce United Methodist Church, 1600 Twelfth Street, Cayee, S.C., with Rev. Michael Henderson and Rev. Ron Honeycutt officiating.

Burial followed in Andrew Chapel Cemetery, 210 Andrew Chapel Road, Swansea, S.C.

The family received friends Friday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, S.C.

Mrs. Shaver, widow of Bradford N. Shaver, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Born in Gaston, S.C. she was the daughter of the late Harry Carlisle Furtick and Sara Ellen Livingston Furtick.

She was a member of Dunn’s Grove Baptist Church, where she was the church pianist and held various offices in the church. She has been an area resident since May 2010.

Mrs. Shaver was formerly of Albemarle, N.C., where she worked as an associate to Dr. Whitman Smith and secretary/bookkeeper at Bowers Implement Company. She worked as a legal secretary for Forrest Abbott while living in Cayee, S.C. She was a loving and caring sister, wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was always helping others.

Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Craft of Lexington, S.C. and Tammie Hunter of Jasper, Ga; sons, Marty Rucker of Canton, Ga. and Gene Shaver of Albemarle, N.C.; brother, Harry Furtick of Cayee, S.C.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 520 Gervais St., Ste. 300, Columbia, S.C. 29201, the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210 or Harmony Hospice, 100 Ashland Park Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210.
