Notes for James Paul “Jim” Barringer III
James Paul “Jim” Barringer, III

James Paul “Jim” Barringer, III, 57, of Salisbury, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 after two months of declining health at his residence.

Born in Rowan County on February 28, 1963, he was the son of Barbara Jackson Barringer and the late James Paul Barringer, Jr. He was preceded in death by his father, James Paul Barringer, Jr.

Jim was a 1981 graduate of South Rowan High School and a 1985 graduate of NC State.

Jim was a NBCT and retired from China Grove Middle School where he taught math and coached football and wrestling, the two sports he loved to coach. He was a scout leader for Troop 328 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church where his two sons received their Eagle.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to go camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. Jim also loved to cook which gave him much joy. Jim was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his two sons, J.P. and Robert. He loved them with all his heart.

Jim was a loving and caring husband and father to his two sons, a son, a brother, and an uncle. He always had a smile for whomever he met. Jim will be truly missed by all that knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 24 years, Christine Fritzsche Barringer, whom he married on October 26, 1996; sons, James “J.P.” Barringer, IV and Robert Dolan Barringer, both of the home; brothers Jeff Barringer (Claudia) of Arkansas, Kelly Barringer (Tammy) of Salisbury, Chris Barringer (Tina) of China Grove; sister Sharon Smith (Tim) of Faith; nieces and nephews, Garrett Smith, T.J. Smith (Lindsey), Taylor Barringer, Katie Barringer, Jacob Barringer, Chase Barringer (Mackenzie), Kody Barringer, Conner Barringer, Madison Barringer, and other step nieces and nephew.

Christine and sons would like to thank special friends that were an important part of Jim’s life: Mark Peacock and family, Mark Shuping and family, and Lewis Safrit and family. The family would like to thank Hospice of Salisbury for their care.

Lyerly Funeral Home is serving the Barringer family.
