Robert Gore
Robert Joe Gore, of Charlotte, NC, passed away April 4, 2017, at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born in Salisbury, NC on June 23, 1925 to the late William and Alice Kirk Gore.
Robert graduated from Catawba College. He served as captain of the football team, playing on a scholarship. His senior year he was President of the Student Government and later served as President of the Alumni Association and was inducted into the football Hall of Fame.
Robert was a dedicated member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church where he held numerous leadership positions, and taught Sunday school for over 50 years.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years; Elizabeth Curlee Gore and son; Robert Gore Jr. He is survived by his daughter; Lois Kessler (husband Dr. Raymond), daughter-in-law; Katherine Gore, grandchildren; Raymond, Stuart (wife Allie) and James Kessler; Mary Pinto (husband Michael) and Sarah Gore and great grandchild; Luca Pinto. Robert was also preceded in death by brother; Andrew Gore Jr and sister; Alice Norton.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday April 11, 2017 at Prichard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Boulevard, Charlotte, NC. A visitation for family and friends will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church or Catawba College.
Arrangements are in the care of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service.
