Agnes Wilson Leonard

Agnes Wilson Leonard, 78, wife of the Rev. Don Leonard, pastor of Memorial United Church of Christ, passed away Wednesday night, Nov. 18, 2009, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial United Church of Christ, where she was a member, by the Dr. Melvin Palmer and the Rev. Kevin Gilliam.

Mrs. Leonard was born in Davidson County on Dec. 3, 1930, to Oscar Cleveland Wilson and Agnes Golightly Wilson. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Leonard graduated from Lexington High School and attended Franklin Marshall College.

Surviving are her husband, the Rev. Donald Mark Leonard of the home; two sons, Kelly Leonard and his wife, Keiko, of Hendersonville and Lee Leonard and his wife, Bonna, of Pinehurst; two daughters, Julie Leonard of New Salem and Jane Leonard of Pinehurst; five grandchildren, Lindsay Leonard, Emilyanne Leonard, Sydney Leonard, Shann Leonard and Carter Leonard; and a sister, Dot Parlier and her husband, Jim, of Adkins, Va.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Randolph County; Memorial United Church of Christ, Lexington, NC; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
